Some friends of ours have a Christmas party every year in their shop/garage. They decorate redneck style, and put up tables and chairs, and we eat, visit, and do a white elephant exchange. It is a lot of fun, and we are really glad they invite us every year, even though they have parred down the guest list by half since last year!

RS dinner
I am the 2nd counselor in the RS (formerly known as the "enrichment counselor,") and we don't have an enrichment leader, so all of the planning and carryout for the RS Christmas dinner fell to me. I had a couple of really wonderful helpers, and it went perfectly. Dinner was good, and filling (especially with a limited budget!) decorating dessert gingerbread house cakes was fun and original, the program was beautiful and spiritual, and my mother in law came for the party, which was a pleasant surprise. Over all, I was very pleased with the way it went.

Our family is proud to be American!
We had our ward 4th of July party today. It was a lot of fun. I won the apple pie bake off, with my gluten free apple caramel toffee pie with molasses crust. I got a cool red white and blue quilt as my prize. The choir sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and we had hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon, and lemonade. I can't believe we are already to July! This year has flown by.
