Welcome fall!
To celebrate the coming of fall, we went to a friends house for dinner. The boy's bestest buddy these day's is their daughter, Little E. The two of them have so much fun together. We made caramel apples, covered with all kinds of candy, nuts, and fruit. We couldn't wait for them to fully set so we ate them when they were still all gooey and sticky. It was great!

Book worm
The kiddos have inherited a love of reading from Momma. The boy will sit and read for hours at a time, and he loves to be read to. Baby girl got this "Baby Faces" book from the doctor at her 6 month appointment, and she just loves it. She will stare and stare at it. I love that they are like me in lots of little ways.

What the boy brought home from Alaska...
Poor kid. He spent about 4 hours over the whole week in the ship's kid area, and managed to pick up pink eye. He has a really bad case, which has spread to both eyes. The worst part is that he can't open it in the morning until we wash out the yuckies, and it freaks him out. Poor buddy is feeling cruddy. It is really swollen and hard for him to see and light sensitive. He is not a happy camper right now.

At sea
The last full day of the cruise, we were at sea all day. It was VERY windy and choppy, and the kids had to keep each other entertained, because they wouldn't let us go outside on the deck or in the pools. Baby girl thinks brother is hilarious, so it was not very difficult for them to have fun together!

Third Port, Skagway
Our third (and favorite!) stop was in Skagway. It is a gorgeous LITTLE down ( it is 8 blocks long and 2 blocks wide.) We took a tour up the White Pass into BC. We learned a lot about the gold rush, and the history of the town. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we got some beautiful pictures.

First day of Preschool!
The boy was so excited for his first day at preschool! He got up early, and came into the kitchen wearing his backpack (with his pajamas.) Daddy went to work super early so that he could take his lunch at 8:45 and meet us there. The boy had a great first day. He got to paint, play on the sand table (which is actually filled with cornmeal... GENIUS!) and make new friends. There are 2 kids from church in the class with him, so he was happy about that. He is also doing a home based co-op preschool program called Joy School with some other kids from church, so total he goes to school 3 days a week. He was very disappointed to learn that he had to leave his school supplies at school, and couldn't carry them back and forth in his backpack, so we had to go buy a second set for his backpack. (He needs them for Joy School anyway.) It was a big day for him!

Hey Lady!
We were at the marina, standing on a balcony looking down at the dock. We saw a lady get out of her little boat and tie it to the dock. She was about 100 yards away when the wind caught it, and knocked it completely over! The boy thought this was this coolest thing he'd ever seen. He was very excited, yelling down at the dock; "Hey Lady! Hey Lady! Your boat falled over Lady!" She just grabbed it and pulled it back up, but the boy thought it was pretty awesome.

Happy Birthday Daddy!
Daddy's birthday was today, so we had a nice breakfast, opened presents, then went to church. After church, we had fried chicken and mashed potatoes (Daddy's choice!) for dinner, and pineapple upside down cake for dessert. (Or, as the boy calls it..."up down pine cone cake!") We love Daddy very much and we are happy to celebrate with him.

Day of Service
We participated in the National Day of Service by teaming up with the church and the United Way and doing projects around town. I will post those pictures when I get them...but this is a picture the boy took of Daddy's shirt. It was a busy day, after the service projects we went to a community gathering for lunch, a baptism, a scout activity, and finally Nana and Great Grandma (visiting from San Diego) came over to visit! Fun, productive, and spiritual. Could a day be any better?

Fishies in the ocean
The boy decided he'd like to paint, so we sat down to paint and he told me I had to "imaginate" that his picture was fishies in the ocean. He painted a blue line at the top to be the water, then made all sorts of colorful swirls and dots. It did look like fishies in the ocean...in a way. I love his abilities to "imaginate" and create. He was so proud of his picture. We decided to send it to Grandma for her birthday. The boy is a joy to have around.

So excited for spookin'
I LOVE Halloween. Last year, I taught a class on making these cute Christmas countdowns on a cookie sheet. This year, I had to try a Halloween countdown! I love love LOVE it. I think it turned out so much cuter than the Christmas ones. Don't get me wrong, they were cute, but this one is WAY more adorable. I put a few little clothespins to hold candy (it IS a Halloween countdown after all!) and the boy is so excited for it to be October. I have to admit, I can't wait to put this up either!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
I took this from my front yard. I love living in such a gorgeous place. My kids can play outside with no smog, no gangs, no drive bys. It is worth every bad day I've ever had to be outside under a gorgeous blue sky, holding my baby girl, watching my son play. I wouldn't trade my life for any of yours. My kids are the best thing(s) that have ever happened.
