Baby girl is a bottomless pit these days, and she wants to feed herself everything. For dinner tonight she had two salmon cakes, multiple scoops of rice, a cup and half of steamed broccoli, and applesauce. More than anyone else, including Momma and Daddy. Most of it she managed to eat all by herself. She is growing and learning every day, and we are so proud of her.

Today the boy wanted to climb up on top of the jungle gym by himself. I told him if he needed help to call for Momma or Daddy. He retorted "I won't need help. I'm not a kid you know." I said to him that yes, he is in fact a kid, and he answered "No, I'm a little grown up!" What a stinker!

This was taken from a friend of mine's living room. Gorgeous. I am jealous of her view every day, but so happy to live in such a beautiful place! In the background you can see the sand spit and lighthouse. How lucky we are to have such a view (even if we have to borrow it!)

The boy has been a Sunbeam for 3 weeks now, and he got to give the scripture in Sharing Time for the first time today. He was very excited, and repeated it after me. But, he was heartbroken that he didn't get to give a talk. He thought he was going to get to stand up there for much MUCH longer! What a funny kid.

The boy was on a playdate at his little friend's house, and his mom reported to following conversation to me;
My Boy: Can I have one of your trees?
Friend's Mom: Sure, we can make some treats.
My Boy: No, trees. TREES. I want a tree.
Friend's Mom: A...tree?
My Boy: Yes, I want to plant a tree at my house.
Friend's Mom: Oh, honey I don't think it would be very easy to get one of my trees to your house.
My Boy: We should always share. It's never too hard to share.
So, we got the boy two of his very own fruit trees. They are both hybrid, self pollenating. One is plums and the other is cherries. They both have several little green buds on them, so we'll see if they actually give us any fruit. The boy is very excited about them, and we check on them everyday. Repeatedly.

We are big fans of the BlendTec and VitaMix demos at Costco. The boy was very excited to watch the smoothie guy today. We stood there for about 30 minutes and sampled everything at least once. Sister was especially fond of the "I'm not allowed to call this a Shrek smoothie." (Spinach, grapes, and pineapple.) She was being super cute in order to earn more smoothies. She had both feet in her mouth at one point, and there was green smoothie ALL over her.

Today is the anniversary of our family being sealed for time and all eternity in the Seattle temple. The boy was 1 year old when we were sealed. It was an amazing day, and we are happy to be celebrating such a beautiful anniversary.

This play tent was a BIG hit at Joy School. ALL of the kids wanted to be in it, and no one wanted to get out to make more room. There were six little bodies in a 3 foot square. They all seemed to think it was hilarious, and everyone wanted to take a picture. Funny kids...fun time!

The boy's bestest little buddy had her birthday party today. It was a Halloween themed birthday party. In January....LOVE it! The kids all dressed up and they went trick or treating, did Halloween games, watched Halloween cartoons. It was awesome. The boy got this Army man costume in November for super cheap. What a fun birthday party idea!

We've been having a cold month! There is frost almost every morning, and we've had several snowy days since Thanksgiving. We like the cold, and the boy especially likes the snow. It makes him very happy to go out and play in the snow, no matter how little there actually is.

Baby girl has been eating everything she can get her hands on lately! She got impatient waiting for me to feed her mashed potatoes, so she took the spoon and did it herself. She didn't always get it into her mouth, but she is getting there. She is such a sweet baby, she is so easy going, snuggly, and friendly.

The boy's new favorite movie is "Despicable Me" and he watches it all the time. He doesn't remember the title, so he calls it "my mini-nin." It's pretty cute to see him so excited about the minions. Daddy pointed out that a twinkie looks like a minion, so I got some blue writing frosting gel stuff and made him a minion cake. It was pretty adorable. He didn't want to eat it, but when I convinced him it would be ok, he scarfed it down so quickly that I couldn't even get another picture!
Thursday, January 13, 2011
It was a very beautiful evening. We were out for a "nature walk" as the boy likes to call them. We didn't have a camera except our cell phones, so it isn't a great picture, but the colors were beautiful. The boy told us all about how Jesus painted the sky with a paintbrush to make us all happy.

The boy was rocking out singing and "playing" his guitar. He was also dancing and jumping around. I asked him if he wants to be a rock star when he grows up, and he said no, he wants to be a missionary, then a popcorn maker, then go into space.

Baby girl has adopted this strange way of nursing. She doesn't like to lay down, because she can't look around. She sits on my leg and leans forward, and then she can look wherever she'd like. She is such a character, and very opinionated. I wonder where she gets that from...?!

The boy had all of the pieces of his puzzles all mixed together, so I helped him get them all organized. He then proceeded to put them all together. He was so proud of himself. Then, when I went to get several ziploc baggies for them, he mixed the pieces all together again! Hmmmph. Boys.

These kids sure lucked out, and got a good Daddy. They love to play with and climb all over Daddy. It's a good thing he such a big guy, they both got to be ferried around today. Sister cracks me up the way she is laying on brother in this picture.
I love Daddy, he loves me. We love Mommy yesiree. She loves us and so you see...we are a happy family!

We got another dusting of snow. No where near the dumping we got last time, but enough to play in and make everything look soft and pretty. The boy kept insisting it was Christmas day, because the snow was falling. Baby girl still is not impressed.

I heard the boy arguing with his friend Lil' E...only she wasn't here. So, I went into the living room to see what the commotion was all about. Apparently, the boy had given her a ring on the old banana phone. She was telling him that he was supposed to be at school and he was telling her that there is no school today. On a side note, we were in Costco and bought a bunch of bananas. The boy insisted on carrying it around and was rocking it, calling it his baby. He said his baby was crying, and was hungry. I asked what banana babies eat, and the boy said "squirrels!" Honestly, I don't know where he gets these things.

I plugged in the vacuum today and then went to go check to make sure baby was awake before I started. I hadn't pulled the handle up to make it "adult sized" yet, and I heard it turn on. I came running out and found the boy doing it for me! Up until now he has always been afraid of the vacuum, and covered his ears whenever it was on. He is growing up! He tells me constantly now that "big boys are good helpers." And, he is right!

Baby girl has been eating up a storm. She loves to have what the rest of us are having, especially when what the rest of us are having is a cupcake! She Is such a sweet, perfect girl. Her two bottom teeth are coming in beautifully, and I feel 2 more starting on top. She'll be eating steak in no time!
Monday, January 3, 2011
We took a family bike ride today, with the boy riding all on his own. Baby sister was all alone in the bike trailer! It was a lot of fun to see the boy looking like such a big boy. Daddy rode along side the boy, I kept getting ahead of them because it's difficult to pull a trailer and ride slowly. But, it gave me a change to look back and see Daddy and the boy together. I can't believe my baby boy is almost 4!

Another favorite missionary has been transferred! That keeps happening for some reason...I guess we will need to learn to share our favorite elders with the other people in our stake. We will miss Elder F, and wish him all the best!

Happy New Year, 2011! I have always wanted to take a pic of my baby as the New Year's baby, and never been able to work it out until this year. (Big Brother even got in on the action!) Enjoy. Happy New Year!
